Erik Nelton – Drummer

Erik started started playing piano at age 6 studying with Hubert Hubicki of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. He played twice a year recitals and school events up until age 12 when he then moved from  the Detroit area to the Philadelphia area. After a year or so he developed a strong interest in taking up the drums.

Drums became a passion while studying with Bob Quigley and later Len Neri and continued on to a short stint at Berklee School of Music in Boston in 1981. Jazz, fusion and rock were all genres that he pursued and was interested in. Erik has played in bands like Phoenix (rock), Only human (New Wave /Pop), Third Wish (Fusion), The Fraction (Classic Rock), JazzTrain,  JazzProfilers, the Peptones (R&B) and the Jeff Domenick Trio (Folk/Country/Rock Pop).

Not content to rest on his past education he continues to study jazz playing with Martin Bradfield in Spring City, PA. and takes pride in the ability to play all genres with many people very well. The motivation is to make the soloist, vocalist or song elevate and sound musical. Years of live performing have helped to develop this ability fit into many musical formats.
